Prior to Painting the exterior of your home, it is important that the exterior is free of moss, debris, previous cracked paint, moss and lichen. If the exterior is not cleaned then there is really no point of painting them. Paint should only be applied to absolutely clean surfaces.

Things to keep in Mind

Water-Blasting

Only a select few surfaces can withstand the pressure of a water-blaster. The only surfaces that you can water-blast are roof tiles, cement, brick and relatively new decks.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

When doing a house wash for the roof or the second storey of your home, make sure that the person has a harness. Auckland has a limit of 2.4 metres. This means that if any sort of work is being carried out at a height above that then the person has to have a harness and scaffolding.

Soft Wash

Soft wash is basically putting a mild ionised water solution on the exterior walls and then brushing all the debris away. This is the best way to clean the exterior of your home as it is gentle on the surfaces.
